Pneumatic Self-Cleaning Filter Working Principle

[Operating principle]

The full automatic cylinder scraper filter works very simply: a core ② is installed in a cylindrical stainless steel housing ①.

When the uncooled liquid enters the housing from the inlet ③.

Solid impurities are filtered out and deposited on the inner surface of the filter screen.

Finally, the filtrate flows out of the outlet ④.

When the filter element needs to be cleaned (depending on time, differential pressure, or manual selection), a spring-stressed cleaning pan is used to scrape the inner surface of the filter element back and forth and remove the deposited solid impurities.

However, when the debris is removed from the slot in the filter element, the cleaning pan sends dirt to the bottom of the housing⑥ and discharges the filter through the flow path ⑦

[Filter Status]

When the liquid flows in from the inlet, the disk-shaped scraper with spring is close to the inner surface of the filter element and stops at the upper end of the filter element. When the liquid passes through the scraper and flows outward from the inner surface of the filter element, the impurities are trapped on the inner surface, and the liquid flows out from the outlet. As the time goes by, the impurities gradually increase and the pressure difference rises, the filter element is cleaned according to the set pressure difference or timing.

[Cleaning status]

The air cylinder drives the scraper to move up and down to clean the filter element. When the scraper moves down, the impurities are pushed to the bottom of the filter by the scraper, and the heavy impurities are precipitated to the pollution collection chamber. When the scraper moves upward, the residual impurities are scraped and pushed to the upper end of the filter element, and the impurities are washed away by the flowing liquid, and return to the inner surface of the filter element through the scraper, and the scraper is scraped away when it moves downward. Each cleaning consists of several strokes. After the surface of the filter element is cleaned, the filtering capacity is restored. Filter normally during cleaning, without interruption of flow.

[Blowdown status]

After multiple cleaning cycles, the impurities accumulate to a certain amount, and the blowdown valve is opened regularly to discharge the waste liquid containing high concentration of impurities, which can be recycled if necessary.
