Back washable Candle filters are the best solution available for very fine filtration in applications like Honing oil filtration system, Washing fluid filtration system.
An array of candles is assembled on a plate in housing. The plate separates the top clean from the bottom dirty zone. Dirty fluid enters the bottom zone through the actuated valve. The dirt accumulates on the edges of candle discs while clean fluid passes from outside to the inner tube of the Candle. The inner tube is connected to the top clean zone. The clean fluid goes out through actuated valve in the clean zone. In normal operation, dirty fluid inlet and clean fluid outlet are always open. When the outer surface of Candles is full of muck the candles are choked. This creates a pressure differential, which is sensed by a pressure switch. On receiving a signal from the switch the PLC puts the housing into Filter Drain mode.
The housing is first drained of any excess fluid back into the dirty tank. After completing this action the Filter backwash cycle starts. Compressed air is pumped into the top clean forcing the clean fluid accumulated in the top clean dome back into the candles. A spring at the bottom of each candle element allows it to expand under this pressure thereby opening up the pores of the filter element. The clean this gushes out from inside to out and dislodges the accumulated dirt on the outer surface of the candle. Once the candles are cleaned the filter resumes a normal working cycle.
